Dwayne Johnson has undergone remarkable professional growth. From being in the WWE during the 1990s and ultimately establishing himself on the big screen. However, he was not always handed everything on the silver spoon but had to work his way up to the top. Johnson has come a long way from having small roles in films like, Scorpion King, to being Black Adam himself. But from the start of his journey, he took inspiration from some of the best in the business.

Speaking during an interview, Johnson would reveal how he took inspiration from established stars in the industry. However, while he just took inspiration during the start of his career, The Rock has almost replaced almost all of those names in a few particular sectors.

When asked about his inspirations, he took names such as Will Smith, Johnny Depp, and George Clooney and today is currently one of the most-sought actors of all time.

What did Dwayne Johnson claim about his inspirations while starting his career?

The Rock claimed to build the foundation of his career by taking inspiration from some of the best men in the industry. When asked about it, he claimed, “when I first got into the business, I looked at Will Smith as the… You know that time? It was the early 2000s he was the biggest star in the world. “

The 51-year-old further took two other great names that helped him shape his career. He said, ” So, I always looked at Will at that time. It was like Will at that time was the biggest star in the world, Johnny Depp, George Clooney, guys like that. And I remember thinking to myself, ‘Wow! I’d love to have Will’s career.'”

Despite having utmost admiration for Smith, Johnson once however almost replaced Smith in his billion-dollar film franchise, ‘Alladin‘. Although the replacement did not go through, Johnson has made strides elsewhere.

He was once rumored to replace Johnny Depp as the beloved Jack Sparrow and took over George Clooney’s tequila brand Casamigos with his Teremana Tequila franchise.
