Upon Hogan’s return to WWE, he was involved in various high-profile matches. During this time, Hogan found himself in matches with The Rock, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, and Shawn Michaels, to name a few. However, his match against Michaels at SummerSlam 2005, was infamous for various reasons.
Former WWE writer and MLW owner, Court Bauer, spoke to the Insiders podcast for AdFreeShows.com and revealed why Shawn Michaels had started resenting The Immortal Hulk Hogan back in 2005.
He revealed how before his match against Hogan at SummerSlam, Vince McMahon would incite Michaels. Bauer revealed how initially Michaels was cool about it but gradually started losing his cool about it.
He continued that as the match neared closer, bad feelings started coming from Shawn Michaels. He said, “So it’s like, congratulations. I don’t know if your ribbing was just good-natured just to bust Shawn’s balls or you were trying to motivate him to step up and have this amazing match or something. In the end, Shawn just felt like he wasn’t into it and just didn’t want to do it.”

The former WWE writer further revealed that he does not know if McMahon was having fun with Michaels. Bauer said, “When a work turns into a shoot kind of thing, I think all of a sudden he resented Hogan going over.” He further stated that he always knew Michaels to be a relaxed person, and his losing his cool happened because of a reason.
