Benito Ocasio is a Puerto Rican rapper who commonly goes by the name Bad Bunny. The rapper has now become a household name, especially after entering the ring of WWE. The rapper/singer was first seen at the Royal Rumble 2021, where he performed his song ‘Booker T’. Since then, he has been a staple at the promotion, which he mostly credits to being a fan since childhood. But during his appearance at Backlash in 2023, he was said to be instrumental in bringing back John Cena’s old foe from the shadows. At least, that’s what the former US Champion said.

“Bad Bunny is a fan,” says revered WWE figure

On the October 13th episode of Cheap Heat, Puerto Rican pro wrestler Carlito joined host Peter Rosenberg. The 44-year-old star was talking about his return to WWE, at the WWE backlash held on May 7th, 2023. He gave the credit for his return to the rapper Bad Bunny. “Bad Bunny is a fan. I think he was a fan of mine growing up.” He further added that it was Bunny’s idea to make Carlito a part of the Backlash Event. WWE Backlash 2023 was held at Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot. It is one of the biggest indoor stadiums situated in the Peurto Rican town of San Juan.

Carlito further added, “You know, of course, being in Puerto Rico, you know, it just made perfect sense.”. This according to the star, made perfect sense as The Caribbean Cool hails from the capital, San Juan. WWE signed Carlito in 2004 and his contract lasted till 2011. In that period, he went on to claim some major honors, such as the WWE United States Championship title, The Intercontinental Championship title, and the Tag Team Championship title.

Carlito’s return to WWE was important not only for him but for Bad Bunny and Rey Mysterio as well. If not for Carlito, Bunny, and Mysterio would have been beaten by Judgment Day.

Carlito saves the day

At the WWE Backlash in 2023, a street fight was set between Bad Bunny and Damian Pirest. The stars who were tag team partners later turned foes. But unexpectedly, Dominik Mysterio entered the ring to help his stablemate defeat Bad Bunny. As things were getting out of hand, the leader of The Latino World Order, Rey Mysterio, decided to step in. But the two faces were getting brutally beaten up by the heels. Just when it felt like they were about to lose, Carlito made his staggering entry into the ring. He, along with Savio Vega, helped the duo. Bad Bunny later won the street fight, marking his first solo win at WWE.
