Entrance is a big part of a wrestler’s character and as such, it becomes important to get this aspect right. And for someone who is in the main event, it becomes all the more crucial.

Drew McIntyre, a former two-time WWE Champion, recently revealed how Vince McMahon slightly changed his entrance to make it look better.

Drew McIntyre says Vince McMahon is a genuis

Vince McMahon has come up with some of the biggest creative decisions in WWE history. From creating WrestleMania to coming up with some memorable segments on TV, he has a touch of brilliance about him.

While at times fans have doubted his ability to always get things right, there is little reservation about the genius of the man.

Drew McIntyre is the latest to affirm that notion. In an interview on NBC Sports Boston’s “Ten Count” podcast, McIntyre talked about the original plans for his famous sword entrance in WWE and how McMahon improved it to look better.

He said, “An example of just how quick his brain works and the genius of Vincent man.[…]The idea was that I was gonna walk to the ring with a sword on my back and then get in the ring with a sword on my back, pull it out and raise it.”

He said this idea was problematic and could’ve done more harm than good. McIntyre added, “So, the props had all the equipment ready. I tried to put it on. It was uncomfortable. I was trying to walk with it. It just doesn’t look cool, just the sword swinging all over the place, getting through the ropes. It might get caught.”

The former 3MB member said he went to McMahon with the problem, who came up with a quick solution. He explained, “He took the sword from me, went quiet for a second, swung it around his office, held it up, spun it around and shoved it down on the ground, and went, ‘Come with me.’ We went to the stage and five minutes later he created the entrance where I walk out, hold up the sword, spin it around, shove it in the stage.

This shows pro-wrestling knowledge of McMahon, knowing what will work for a wrestler even in this day and age.

McMahon described McIntyre as the ‘Chosen One’

It is almost ironic that Vince McMahon came up with Drew McIntyre’s now famous entrance. Back in 2009, Mr. McMahon introduced McIntyre as a ‘future world champion’ on an episode of SmackDown. However, McIntyre was unable to fulfill this prophecy the first time around. He left WWE in 2014.

But The Scottish Warrior would return with a vengeance in 2017. He signed with WWE’s NXT brand and soon won the NXT Championship. After his move to the main roster, he quickly established himself as a main event caliber player.

McIntyre famously eliminated Brock Lesnar from the Royal Rumble in 2020 and won the match. He then beat Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 to win his first WWE Championship. Since then, he has been one of the top babyfaces of the company and continues to thrive in the main event.
