Gable Stevenson made his much-anticipated debut on the most recent episode of NXT. The two-time NCAA champion and Olympic Gold Medalist started boasting about his credentials, only to be interrupted by Baron Corbin. Corbin, who demanded Stevenson return to college or the Olympics, later took a series of suplexes before being challenged to a match at The Great American Bash. 

Although Baron Corbin is a heel, Stevenson failed to garner a favorable response from the WWE Universe. While he has his supporters, there are others who are rooting for Corbin. 

Gable Stevenson is ready to make his in-ring debut

Gable Stevenson recently made an appearance on NXT Underground and dished out German Suplexes to anybody who dared to stand before him. After Kurt Angle, Stevenson is the only legitimate Olympic Gold Medalist in the WWE today. Moreover, the 23-year-old is the protégé of Brock Lesnar, which means great things await him in WWE. 

After Stevenson threw out the challenge at Baron Corbin, he immediately took him for a ride to the Suplexity. Corbin took two suplexes before ending up on the outside of the ring. Meanwhile, Stevenson celebrated his minor win over the former King of the Ring winner. With The Great American Bash less than a week away, it will be interesting to see Stevenson compete in the squared circle for the first time. 

We should note that Gable Stevenson was previously drafted to Raw in 2021. He was a part of WWE’s “Next in Line” Program. However, his debut never materialized due to his aspirations to compete in the 2024 Olympics. 

Ahead of his recent appearance at NXT Underground, Stevenson accompanied Kurt Angle on Raw on the Hall of Famer’s birthday and doused The Alpha Academy with Angle’s milk truck. 

Nevertheless, Stevenson is without question an elite athlete. It’s a no-brainer that his wrestling skills would leave nothing to be desired, But will he be able to win over the fans with his mic skills? It remains to be seen.

Baron Corbin, on the other hand, was recently one of WWE’s most despised superstars. However, his encounter with Stevenson has altered the fans’ perception of him.

Baron Corbin may turn into a fan-favorite heel on NXT after Stevenson garners a negative response 

Although Stevenson made quick work of Corbin, it would be a travesty to think that Baron Corbin was no match for Stevenson. After all, he was the one who retired WWE’s first-ever Olympic Hero, Kurt Angle. 

Up until now, Corbin was one of the most loathed stars on NXT. However, the WWE Universe has now seemingly taken a shine to him. Stevenson’s detractors ruthlessly revolted against his push and criticized WWE for having Corbin do the “job” for the young Olympian.

Given that fans continue to dig up his alleged history of sexual assault, Stevenson will have to work harder to earn the WWE Universe’s respect. All in all, a lot remains to be seen as we approach the Great American Bash.
