The Undertaker is one of the biggest names in wrestling history. But being the biggest guy in a billion-dollar industry comes with great responsibility as well. While he has given the audience some of the greatest moments in the history of the wrestling industry, he has given his fellow wrestlers a boost as well. And the boost that he gave isn’t just climbing the ladder but insightful advice from a veteran.

While we have heard a lot of wrestlers nod at The Undertaker as their inspiration and others make it obvious through their character work, it is rare for them to open up about his advice. Many wrestlers, some who went to do bigger things and others who stayed in the indies, have opened up about the legend. But this ex-WWE star gave the best advice that works in any situation, whether professional or personal.

Ex-WWE star opens up about advice from The Undertaker

In his podcast, Cafe de Rene, ex-WWE superstar, and tag team champion, Rene Dupree revealed some advice he received from The Undertaker. He said, “He once sat with me. I was 20. He said ‘Rene, in this business you gotta be selfish for the right reasons’. I thought for years that I might know what he was talking about, and I never forgot that.

After a few years, I thought I knew. Now I understand what he was talking about and I’m lucky that I can be in a position where I can take that advice and apply it. So now where I’m at I gotta be selfish for the right reasons, meaning you are your own business. Rene Dupree is my business, so I gotta be selfish for me.

Direct advice from The Undertaker is something any wrestler would cherish for the rest of their lives. The same thing that Dupree did and now he is in an influential position as he talked about in the interview. When a 30-year-old veteran tells you something, you keep that advice tight in your heart and follow it throughout. And someone like Taker, who has seen the ups and downs of not only his own career but the biggest company in the industry also, is a great insight into the industry.
