Ever since the former WWE Champion announced he will be putting on the black and gold suit, he has talked about how he wants the movie to be a new launching pad for the DCEU. (The DC Extended Universe). The Brahma Bull has hit all the right notes and promoted the movie with his best efforts. Although it is obvious for an actor to throw everything behind the movie they will star in, for Johnson, there is a very specific reason to push for Black Adam to be a success.
Dwayne Johnson reveals how he resonated with Black Adam
Black Adam will be Dwayne Johnson’s first shot at playing a superhero in a live-action movie. His success with other franchise movies and global stardom means fans can expect a box-office hit. But what will be more encouraging to the DC comic book fans is that The Rock has been a DC fan since childhood.
In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, ‘The Great One’ revealed that growing up he was a DC fan and loved Superman. But after coming across a Black Adam comic, Johnson immediately switched his fandom.
He talked about how the character resonated with him on various levels as it was intense and looked tough and it was at that moment he decided he wanted to play that role one day.
The Rock said, “As a little boy, I was a fan. I love Superman. He was my favorite growing up. But I didn’t know until I saw my first Black Adam comic, when I saw the Black Adam comic, he was intense, he looked bada**. He had brown skin. And I thought, “Wait a second. That’s me. I want to be that guy.”
It is easy to understand why Johnson related with the character so much. Even in his WWE days, he used to be an anti-hero that was neither a completely good guy nor a full on bad guy, which is quite similar to the traits of Black Adam.
The Rock will fulfill his dream of being Black Adam and everyone will get to see how much of an impact he can have for the franchise.
