Over the years, Brock Lesnar has become one of the greatest wrestlers in the industry. But when he entered the WWE, he wasn’t alone. Along with him, from the University of Minnesota, there was another wrestler. But Vince McMahon wasn’t able to capitalize on his abilities and make him as big of a star as Lesnar.

Even now, after McMahon’s step back from creative, Triple H has also been unable to utilize this talented wrestler. While he might have won championships in the past, this wrestler had the skills to be at the level of stars like Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton. Talking about his recent draft, this WWE legend is furious about it.

While talking about the draft, AEW All In, and everything related to wrestling, Jim Cornette, on his podcast, Drive Thru, stumbled on Shelton Benjamin. After going through all the draft picks for Raw and SmackDown, Cornette was looking at the free agents. After the obvious ones like Omos and Brock Lesnar, Cornette heard the name Shelton Benjamin and started his rant about the star.

Cornette said, “This guy looks like he hasn’t aged in 20 years. He’s one of the most athletic people they’ve ever had on the roster. He’s a tremendous worker and is never gonna have a personal problem… or make the company look bad. They bring him back and treat him like sh*t. The other day he and Cedric did a job in two minutes for who dat, they didn’t get an entrance. I don’t even understand why they are bothering. He’s a talent.

After that, Cornette even called out a lot of young stars who often make mistakes in the ring. He clearly mentioned more than one time that Benjamin is one of the best athletes in the company. But it isn’t like Benjamin didn’t get his time in the spotlight in WWE.

Being one of the few cruiserweights who could fly all over the ring, Benjamin was introduced alongside a new faction under Kurt Angle’s care. He soon won his first championships in the tag titles with Charlie Haas. After that, the duo participated in two multi-tag team matches at the two consecutive WrestleManias.

Then he won the Intercontinental championship from Chris Jericho, but that wouldn’t be his shining moment. His match with Shawn Michaels would forever make him a wrestling GIF classic.

His involvement in the Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania 22 also gave the fans some unforgettable moments. But these over-the-top moves would surely catch up with him, so advice from his friend, Brock Lesnar, led him to tone it down a notch. But he would be let go from WWE soon after that.
