There’s a common saying ‘to err is human’. It means that as human beings we’re prone to mistakes. They also tend to occur most during the formative years, notwithstanding one’s age. Like in the case of Roman Reigns, who was well into his 30s when making his big Hollywood debut. Reigns, like a lot of others, made some mistakes. But his cousin and one of the leads in the film, Dwayne Johnson, exposed him brutally for it.
Johnson also shared how Reigns’ error could have dealt a major blow to his career even before it started.

Reigns made his Hollywood debut with the 2019 movie Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. He played the role of Mateo Hobbs, brother of Luke Hobbs, essayed by his real-life cousin Johnson. The duo had an extensive action sequence in the film, where they took on bad guys.
In one of the scenes, both Johnson and Reigns are seen throwing axes at the villain’s henchmen. This is where the 38-year-old’s acting skills got tested and exposed.
Reigns didn’t know that the axe wasn’t meant to be thrown. And his lack of knowledge injured a staff member. “Actually, he took this axe and he f**king chucked it and it hit and all you hear (noises) and I look over and the cameraman is down,” Johnson said, just days after the film was released.
To his defense, Reigns said that he wasn’t used to the concept of CGI and VFX. “We don’t have CGI in the ring,” he said. Fortunately, the crew’s injury wasn’t that serious, and Reigns got away with the mistake.
His fans would hope that Reigns would have learnt his lessons from that error and not repeat it in the future. His quick learning ability was highlighted by one of WWE’s generational stars earlier this year, who lauded the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
John Cena reveals what made Roman Reigns stand out in the WWE
Do you remember Reigns cutting a bizarre promo on Seth Rollins in January 2015? Yes, that was the infamous ‘Suffering Succotash’ segment that Reigns did and failed. But believe it or not, John Cena, considered one of the greats with the mic, thinks that was the turning point for Reigns.
In a chat with Sam Roberts of Notsam Wrestling in May, Cena said upcoming wrestlers will need to prepare themselves mentally for such failures. He said only then can one scale great heights, like Reigns.

Cena was all praise for the current face of the WWE and lauded his learning skills. He also called Reigns ‘super aware’ and ‘super smart’.
Reigns is yet to appear physically in a movie after the aforementioned project. When he does, it remains to be seen if he had managed to learn from his past mistakes.
