The Rock was one of the best trash-talkers during his wrestling days from 1998 to 2003. Some of his iconic catchphrases were cheered by wrestling fans as they humiliated The Rock’s opponents in the worst way possible. Only someone like Stone Cold Steve Austin was his match back then in trash-talking in the ring. But in Hollywood, it’s a completely different story.
Despite his enormous star power and fan following, Johnson still gets a good ribbing from his co-stars. One Hollywood star roasted Johnson to his face by making a reference to his shenanigans during Baywatch.

Hollywood Superstar and former WWE Legend Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and actress Emily Blunt appeared together in the 2021 movie Jungle Cruise. As is custom, the pair appeared in several talk shows during their promotional campaign. One of the key elements of the appearances was the chemistry between the two. Specifically, their tendency to roast each other.
A collection of savage moments between the two was uploaded on the YouTube Channel ‘Celebrities Laugh Planet’. The video consisted of many savage roasts between DJ and Emily Blunt. In one such instance, Blunt referenced Johnson’s performance in the Baywatch movie.
In the clip, Blunt says, “Just because people fall flat on their face, he fell flat on his face in Baywatch, as we all found out.” The moment seemed to shock Johnson, who was at a loss for words on how to retaliate.
Released in 2017, Baywatch was a movie heavily decorated by a cast that includes Dwayne Johnson, Zac Effron, Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra, and Pamela Anderson. Despite the presence of big names and a hit legacy from the TV series, the movie was considered a box office flop, which Blunt may have been referencing as well.
Overall, the movie collected a gross collection of $177 million while being prepared on a budget of $69 million. It might indicate that the movie was a mediocre hit, but numbers are not enough evidence for the claim.
Dwayne Johnson hit back at Critics for poor reviews
Critics considered the movie to be a poor one as depicted by the ratings on film review platforms like Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB. Baywatch received a 5.5 rating on IMDB and just 17% on Rotten Tomatoes. The criticism did fuel Johnson to respond strongly at the time.
