McMahon created a lot of stars when he was in charge of WWE. He also formed a close association with some of these stars over the years
One such individual was the WWE legend, Andre the Giant. Andre was already a big name in pro wrestling when he signed for McMahon’s WWE in 1984. Over the years, McMahon turned the 7’4” pro-wrestler into a global name, and the two forged a close friendship.
However, WWE legend, Bruce Prichard, said that the duo had a fall out in 1992, which ended their friendship.
Vince McMahon regretted falling out with Andre
Bruce Prichard on his ‘Something To Wrestle With Bruce Prichard’ podcast, revealed that following the death of Andre the Giant, Vince McMahon regretted not making up and bidding goodbye to his close friend.
Prichard talked about how hard did Andre’s death hit Vince, saying, “Vince took it hard. Vince and Andre were the same age and had birthdays that were fairly close together.
He continued, “Vince considered Andre one of his best friends and really hated the falling out that they had. I think there was a little bit of regret that hadn’t been completely rectified and he didn’t have the opportunity to say goodbye to his friend.”
The story goes that after Vince McMahon signed Andre to a WWE deal; it prevented him from appearing for any other wrestling promotion. Whereas, before, the giant used to wrestle all over the world without being bound in any such contract.
However, McMahon wanted the biggest stars to appear only for his promotion and made them sign exclusive deals. He did, though, allow Andre to appear for New Japan Pro Wrestling.
