Recently it was in the news that Edge might be joining AEW as his demands in a new contract were rejected by the WWE. Such disagreements in new contracts and creative differences lead to superstars jumping ship many times. As also seen with Cody Rhodes who first left WWE due to creative differences and later left AEW due to disagreement with the new contract.
In some cases, talents are just let go due to budget cuts as it happened with the WWE in 2020 and 2021. During the layoff of 2021, the late Bray Wyatt was also let go. But in spite of being approached by many promotions, he decided to stay loyal to the WWE.
Bray Wyatt was very close to joining AEW

Close to 80 wrestlers and backstage staff were let go as part of the 2021 budget cuts in the WWE. Bray Wyatt was one of the superstars who was let go. The list also included big names like Bray Wyatt, Ric Flair, and Braun Strowman to name a few.
Then in 2022 he joined the WWE once again and stayed with the brand till his exit in February 2023 due to health issues. Now news has just emerged that during his one year hiatus from wrestling, Wyatt was approached by multiple promotions.
Dave Meltzer while reporting for Wrestling Observer Newsletter said that he was very close to wrestling for AEW even giving them a joining date. He said, “At one point TNT was told of a date for him to debut in AEW, but it fell through, believed to be money related. Impact was interested as was AAA and Japanese groups. He did nothing.”
During this period of one year, he was also contemplating introducing a new character to his fans.
Bray Wyatt wanted to get back to wrestling with his original name as ‘Windham6’
During his illustrious WWE career, Bray Wyatt portrayed different characters ranging from a cult leader to the demonic ‘Fiend’ and the host of ‘The Firefly Fun House’. Fans were always excited to see what new gimmick ‘The Eater Of Worlds’ would bring to the wrestling table.

And seems like he was all ready to introduce a new character to his wrestling fans. Dave Meltzer said that he wanted to return with the name ‘Windham6’. He said, “He pushed the idea of him returning using the name Windham6. He pushed the name in social media but before ever using it, he went back to the old character, signifying a return to WWE upcoming.”

Maybe if Wyatt had signed with AEW or Impact, he may have introduced this new character to his fans. But sadly we will never know.
