It is no secret that ‘The Hulkster’ had creative control over his character for a large portion of his career. However, it also proved to be detrimental to other wrestlers and promotions along the way. Wrestling personalities from WWE to WCW have spoken in the past about Hogan using his pull to get his way. And now it seems we have one more story to add.
Former WWE star Mario Mancini recalled how Hogan’s influence led to WWE firing legend George Scott over a booking decision.
Mancini explains Hulk Hogan got George Scott fired as a booker
Hulk Hogan climbed to the top of the pro wrestling mountain not once, but twice. He brought great success to WWE in the 1980s and then to WCW in the 1990s. However, both times, stories came out of him using his influence to get his way and book himself into better positions.
Recently, former WWE wrestler Mario Mancini revealed one more such story on the Cheap Heat Productions Podcast. He talked about how wrestling legend George Scott, who was WWE’s booker in the 1980s, got fired because Hogan was unhappy over a booking choice he wanted to make.
Mancini also recalled that he would’ve had a different career had Scott stayed on as a booker. He said ” It was the late 84, early 85. George Scott was the booker and George Scott loved me. I would have had quite a different career if George Scott stayed the booker and not Pat Patterson.”
He revealed the reason behind Scott’s firing from WWE. Mancini added. “But George Scott got fired because he wanted to put the strap on Randy Savage right away. Hogan, he went, and b***d to Vince, and [Vince] fired George and brought in Pat.”
It seems Hogan didn’t take Scott’s idea of making Randy Savage as world champion very well. This was yet another example of the former WCW World Champion trying to keep his spot at the top and using his clout to ensure that.

However, years later, Savage would win the WWE World title in the main event of WrestleMania IV. Afterward, Hogan and Savage formed an alliance called the ‘Mega Powers’. But Savage eventually turned on Hogan, resulting in a title match at WrestleMania V, which Hulk Hogan won.
Who knows what could’ve happened if Vince had approved Scott’s booking decision, and he stayed on with the WWE!
