This week, Tony Khan grabbed attention for addressing a USA Network account’s reference to Cagematch regarding Jinder Mahal vs. Seth Rollins. Khan questioned a perceived double standard, highlighting fans’ discontent with HOOK pursuing the AEW World Title despite his impressive record, while seemingly accepting Jinder Mahal’s WWE World Heavyweight Title match.
He had also said he did not win a singles match in a year. As a result, an active WWE Hall of Famer weighed in on Tony Khan’s social media activities.

In the wrestling world, sparks flew as AEW President Tony Khan threw shade at Jinder Mahal’s world title match on WWE RAW. Eric Bischoff and Jonathan Coachman chimed in, but WWE Hall of Famer Booker T had some golden words on his Hall of Fame podcast.
He initially said, “Why tweet something about Jinder Mahal? Why drag Jinder Mahal into this? T continues questioning, “Why do you want to put some shade on Jinder Mahal? Why do you want to put some shade on a talent? Talent has nothing to do with this. Talent is not booking the show.” Booker T emphasized that talent, whether in WWE or AEW, is just doing their job – soldiers on the wrestling battlefield.
Booker also added, “It was definitely low-brow, as far as Tony Khan going after Jinder Mahal.” He questioned the need to target WWE talent for no reason. Booker defended Jinder Mahal, highlighting his dedication to the job for a year.
In the end, he stated, “ Tony Khan should be looking at himself as a general, being the guy that is commanding that company, and then calling all the shots, to be on Twitter and making comments like that. It just goes to show you that this guy has the wrong job, more than anything. I feel like Tony Khan has the wrong job. He should be in charge of social media.” Offering advice to Tony Khan, he suggested letting the right people handle the Twitter account.
He sarcastically also cautioned him against late-night bathroom tweets that could bring unnecessary negativity and ruin the day. Meanwhile, the wrestling lineup heats up, with Jinder Mahal eyeing Seth Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Title on January 15.
