Despite millions of fans keenly following WWE, the largely popular notion of it being a fake sport keeps coming up for discussion. The argument goes both ways. A group of people question the very legitimacy of the scripted nature of the sports, while others defend it to be fun and engaging.

That said, apart from the ordinary fans, some high-profile wrestling fanatics also have had their say in the debate. One of them was the iconic Holywood mogul Sylvester Stallone.

Stallone, 76, has long been a crazy wrestling buff. Also, the actor is no stranger to the squared circle. The Rocky Franchise star had several run-ins with WWE superstars in movies. His silver screen rivals include a few bigwigs ranging from Hulk Hogan to Dave Batista, John Cena, Steve Austin, etc.

Last year when his movie, Sanatarian, was about to be released, the actor went candid on how much wrestling means to him during a conversation with Sports Illustrated.

Dismissing most of the critiques’ take, he insisted, ”I love wrestling. It’s all about getting swept up in the drama. I hear people say it’s not real. Really? Gravity is real. Jumping off the top rope or having 300 pounds landing on you, that’s real.”

The actor added how wrestling has enhanced his connection with audiences and how some of the superstars entirely changed his personality and outlook on life. He also made his daughters watch wrestling to embrace the mythic qualities of the game.

Edge was an asset to the WWE world for over a few decades. Although he’s now a part of Khan’s promotion following his WWE contract termination, the veteran’s incredible legacy in the Stamford-based company will remain unmatched. However, to trace back to the source of his primary interest in the world of wrestling, Stallone played a huge part.

Stallone deeply moved a young Edge playing the fighter superhero roles in the movie Rocky IV. He stated that whenever he first saw the Rocky star, he made up his mind about pursuing Pro wrestling as a career.
