WrestleMania XL has to be one of the biggest WrestleMania events in WWE’s history. The stakes are high and the current story has had fans on the edge of their seats. Dwayne Johnson has turned heel after almost twenty years and now refers to himself as the Final Boss. Since then he is not sparing Cody Rhodes and anyone who comes in his way. In the latest beatdown Rhodes faced at the hands of Johnson, a former WWE star was spotted who has been out of action for quite a long time. What was the purpose behind his presence? Is he there to help Rhodes or is Johnson’s new ally?
Who is that with Dwayne Johnson?
Internet personality Chris Van Vliet, who is often seen commenting on pro wrestling, was the first one to notice the cameo or the glimpse of Bobby Roode in the clip. Van Vliet wrote, “What a glorious cameo by Bobby Roode.” The clip was posted by the Brahma Bull which had some behind-the-scenes footage from the latest episode of Monday Night Raw.

In the latest episode of Monday Night Raw, Rhodes was ambushed by Johnson backstage. This quickly turned into a merciless beatdown where Rhodes was left bleeding as Johnson threw everything at him. The clip showed that the 51-year-old star was going with the flow while performing that segment and when the director said “cut” he did not stop. If you are wondering what Roode was doing, he was one of the producers of this segment.
The 47-year-old star was last seen in June 2022 facing off Omos at a live event. He ended up losing the fight. Apart from that, multiple neck injuries caused him to take a break from in-ring action.
While cleared to wrestle, Roode opened up on why he is unwilling to get back into action.
Why is Bobby Roode not getting back to the ring?
In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Roode opened up about the status of his injury and his plans at WWE. He stated that he has been “greenlighted” to wrestle. However, he now prefers to stay out of action. “So as far as like looking at it from a medical point of view, it’s safe to get back in the ring. But at almost 48 years old, given the opportunity that I’ve been given now to work as a producer.” He also stated that it was his goal to work as a producer at WWE for a long time.

He also revealed how the injury happened to him in the first place. Almost a decade ago when he was performing a spot with Rob Van Dam, a mistake caused his limbs to go numb. While the numbness was not that difficult to bear, it returned during a match with Omos in 2022 which led to his in-ring retirement. However, let us know in the comments below what are your reviews of the Dwayne Johnson x Cody Rhodes segment produced by Bobby Roode.
