It’s not a good day for anyone to lose their employment or have their contract cut short. However, companies need to make tough decisions all the time, and that’s what WWE did with a mass release from NXT. It’s possible Triple H was in the loop about the same as well.
One of the individuals who were released during the mass release is Gabe Sapolsky. After he opened up about his release, a Twitter user commented about his decision to sign with WWE.
According to the comment, Sapolsky traded in EVOLVE to have 3.5-year employment with WWE. Sapolsky immediately took to the same platform and responded by correcting the user and calling out the comment. He revealed that WWE actually saved EVOLVE and helped put it on a bigger platform, especially Triple H.

Another narrative that is so wrong. HHH and WWE saved EVOLVE, put it on a bigger platform and hired about half the roster during a pandemic. EVOLVE would have died in 2016 otherwise. https://t.co/04GrhB27gc

Another fan confirmed Sapolsky’s clarification. He revealed overhearing a conversation that claimed without the signings from NXT talents, EVOLVE wouldn’t have survived.
I was at the last Evolve show and Gabe ended up sitting behind me and I over heard a conversation saying that without the signings that they had from NXT talent they’d stop running shows, so this checks out. https://t.co/bLUcxbHHq0

WWE may not always be spot on with every business decision it makes, but it has to be practical and beneficial to the company. No one in their right mind would take a business decision that impacts it negatively, and definitely not Vince McMahon or HHH.
Are Vince McMahon and Triple H running WWE NXT 2.0 together?
When the company began revamping NXT 2.0, it became clear that something big was underway. The logo, the colours, and almost everything changed.
As time moved on with the changes, it was reported that Vince McMahon was taking over NXT. At this point, it was unclear why this was the case since no one wanted NXT to have the same productions like SmackDown and Raw. To the fans, NXT was a breath of fresh air.

So, when McMahon taking over made headlines, concerns were raised over Triple H’s involvement with the revamped version.
Before anyone could jump to a concrete conclusion, Triple H suffered a medical issue and took time off WWE. Even when he started recovering, HHH did not come back to NXT’s productions.
