With all the bulk and shape in the world, John Cena looks like one hell of an actor and wrestler. He is not only inventive in the ring but also in his acting. But the thing that brought him one step closer to fame, bodybuilding, is one that many people forget. The place where WWE talents searched for a young blonde beach boy was one of these bodybuilding competitions.

But it seems like Cena is getting away from his bodybuilding foundations as he is now a full-time wrestler. And this video from The Bella Twins show clearly proves it.

John Cena hates this basic exercise but still has 20-inch biceps

In a video from the Bella Twins’ YouTube channel, we can see John Cena laying out his workout routine for everyone to see. But coupled with the narration about his workout exercises, this video became a lot more entertaining. One striking thing that the narrator says about Cena’s workout is when he goes to the dumbbell section. He says, “Something that John Cena rarely does, bicep curls. Why? He hates doing curls. Believe it or not, John is a more function-over-form guy when it comes to his physique. But he does what he has to do.

For the uninitiated, the function is one of the biggest things that a wrestler needs to keep a check on. With all the bumps and moves in the ring, the durability and stamina needed to perform come from the functioning of the body, not its form. While form is important as well, function is more important in wrestling. But if Cena would have chosen bodybuilding as his career, he would have had to focus on his form a lot more than he does now.

This is one of the reasons why Cena is one of the most talented wrestlers in the ring. His matches are always fun to watch as Cena outdoes himself in every match. This streak of outperforming himself started when Cena began the US Open Challenge on Raw years ago. This is a reoccurring event that both Gunther and Austin Theory are doing right now.
