Vince McMahon undoubtedly possesses one of the sharpest brains in the pro wrestling business. His smarts helped transform the WWE into a global juggernaut and enjoy a peerless run before AEW came into existence. McMahon’s penchant for a good business deal was in full display earlier this year when he managed to sell the WWE for a whopping $9.3 billion to Endeavor. But six years before inking this deal, McMahon had made an eerie prediction about himself to WWE legend Kurt Angle.

During a recent episode of The Kurt Angle Show podcast, the Hall of Famer revealed it.

Kurt Angle has had a storied run in the promotion. Though he managed to do so in other companies as well, his run in the Stamford-based promotion particularly stands out. After Angle returned to the WWE in 2017, McMahon told him something that shocked the legend.

We all know that Vince McMahon loves his company. It is not a secret and the 77-year-old has said it publicly. But his admission to Angle took his affair with the promotion to an all new level of obsession. Angle revealed McMahon once told him, “Listen, I’m not gonna quit, I’m not gonna retire, you’re gonna have to take this company from my cold, dead hands.”

When the former WWE Champion reminded McMahon of his age, he came up with another answer that blew Angle’s mind.

Angle recalled, “I said, ‘Vince, how long do you think you’re gonna live?’. He goes, ‘past a hundred.’ I said, ‘come on, Vince'”. Angle further stated that Vince McMahon remained confident about his claim as he used his mother to draw inspiration.

Vicky Askew, McMahon’s mother, died in 2022 at the age of 101. Vince McMahon had rightly predicted that his mother would go on to live 100 years in 2017. Call it intuition or a lucky guess, turns out, McMahan won that round of predictions.

However, McMahon might want to rethink his predictions about his own life, following the recent setback.

Health scare keeps Vince McMahon away from beloved company

In early August, WWE reported that McMahon underwent spine surgery in July. This, the company said, will keep Vinnie Mac away from the promotion till further notice.

While McMahon was spot on about the lifespan of his mother, he has already let go of his company by selling it. Some may argue that he still holds a place in the new board formed for this company, but that still doesn’t match with his claim of not letting it go ever.

The second is his health. It had to be really bad to keep the man away from the product that has become synonymous with him. Though his absence has been reported to auger well for the roster, we pray for a speedy recovery for the wrestling impresario.
