LA Knight has become a fan favorite over a few months. He gets a huge reaction from the WWE Universe despite being a heel. However, the self-proclaimed megastar hasn’t been involved in storylines lately. In fact, the last significant storyline he was a part of was with Bray Wyatt and Uncle Howdy.

During his feud with Bray Wyatt, LA Knight proved that he is exceptional at cutting promos. But the fact that he hasn’t been used much in spite of his rather sizeable fan following has a former WWE writer baffled.

Earlier this year, LA Knight made the rounds on social media, as the fans clamored to see him win the Money in the Bank match. In addition, many dirt sheets revealed that WWE has internal plans to push the 40-year-old superstar at MITB. However, the WWE creative team has not really done a good job with Knights booking lately.

While speaking on Wrestling With Freddie, former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr. took shots at WWE for their underwhelming booking involving LA Knight. Freddie’s contention is that WWE hasn’t put stock into LA Knight even though he gets a huge pop from the fans. To be fair, Knight is conspicuously very popular among the fans. And so, he should have been in the upper cards at this point.

He said, I don’t get it. When you get yourself over, the entire creative team should be rushing to you as soon as your promo is over and saying, ‘Let’s talk and figure out a story.’ For whatever reason, they just refuse to give him a legit story and he’s getting bigger pops than 95% of the roster whether he’s supposed to be the good guy or the bad guy. The crowd loves him. I don’t get why he’s not in a significant story.”

We will have to wait and see if Knight finally gets the push he deserves at Money in the Bank. Knight defeated Montez Ford to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match. He will compete against six others in a bid to retrieve the coveted briefcase.

Amidst Freddie’s disbelief of WWE’s erratic booking of LA Knight, Mark Henry advised the SmackDown superstar to leave the promotion if things turn out to be unfavorable.

Nevertheless, LA Knight recently commented on his forgotten gimmick after his main roster call-up from NXT.

Could LA Knight’s age be a factor that’s holding his push?

LA Knight did well in NXT with his current gimmick. However, when he was brought to the main roster, he underwent character change, playing the role of a manager named Max Dupri. But, after Triple H took the reins of creative from Vince McMahon, Knight reverted to his current gimmick.

Furthermore, according to Knight, the real reason why they turned him into a manager could be related to his age. While speaking with the Daily Mail, Knight revealed that he was spotted by WWE officials doing a dark match. Although they were impressed, his age turned out to be a hitch.

He said, “I come up for a dark match, I get the attention of the right people; “hey, who is this guy?” but then the age thing comes up – [whispers] “oh no, he’s 40, danger’. But I’m not the average 40-year-old.

Knight further stated that he is healthier than the average 40-year-old talents. Knight does looks like he is in the best shape of his life.
