From championship glory to being a diminishing superstar on the roster, Jinder Mahal keeps trying his best to make his mark in the WWE. Despite being one of the very few to defeat the ‘Viper’ Randy Orton, he achieved the unthinkable in Backlash 2017. However, it seems like time’s on his side again, as he has a chance at redemption by becoming the World Heavyweight Champion on RAW 1/15. The only obstacle? Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins.

‘The Architect’ has been successfully defending the inaugural championship so far; however, there is a mixture of opponents this time rather than a single fight. With Drew McIntyre also aiming for the gold, WWE has multiple options to choose from regarding the upcoming fight between Mahal and Rollins. Let’s look at a few of them.

Jinder dethrones Rollins with the help of the Indus Sher

Unfortunately for Seth Rollins, the ‘Modern Day Maharaja’ happens to be the leader of the stable ‘Indus Sher’, comprising him, Sanga, and Veer Mahaan. This would mean that Mahal would have the numbers advantage, which we have witnessed time and again in pro wrestling that it plays a major advantage.

Whether it be distractions causing a surprise roll-up or maybe using an item to hit the opponent, no fight is dirty if the referee is distracted, right? The late Eddie Guerrero would agree to this. These small interferences play a big impact in title fights, and Mahal sure knows their importance since he has usually used the advantage, whether it be with the help of the Great Khali, the Singh brothers, or this time, the Indus Sher. Speaking of interferences, there is another possible interference that includes another ‘close’ personality from the Modern Day Maharaja’s past.

A disqualification by a frustrated former

Drew McIntyre seems to have his destiny entangled with that of Jinder Mahal. The two were made a part of the Stable 3MB alongside Heath Slater, and then the two were released in the same year, 2014. When Mahal won the world championship in 2017, a year after his return, WWE saw the grand return of the Scottish Warrior. And now the two are trying their hands at dethroning ‘The Architect’ as the world heavyweight champion.

While McIntyre has gotten multiple opportunities at the title, he fell short each time, for which he blamed everyone but himself, according to Rollins. His last unsuccessful attempt against Rollins also featured an interference by Damien Priest trying to cash in his Money in the Bank contract, which McIntyre called a ‘stupid’ decision. Fans can be assured that he will be coming back for vengeance against being wronged again.

And one possible way of doing that would be to interfere in the match between ‘The Architect’ and ‘The Modern Day Maharaja’, thus leading to disqualification and a possible triple threat in the future. Now that we’ve mentioned Damien Priest and the Money in the Bank briefcase, there is a way in which he too can fit into the mix.

Priest’s patience runs out

After securing the Money in the Bank contract back in July 2023. And ever since, he has been waiting for the perfect opportunity to cash in the briefcase. He did attempt to cash in the briefcase on prior occasions but was unable to. Once, thanks to Sami Zayn thwarting the plan by running into the crowd with the briefcase, the other was interrupted by a Claymore kick to the face by Drew McIntyre.

But now he has another go at cashing in. And with the WWE universe already witnessing a successful cash-in by Oba Femi to win the North American championship in the latest edition of NXT, fans might get to witness another new champion rise in Damien Priest.

The fourth possible option is a simple one, where we acknowledge the fact that Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins is indeed a ‘Freakin’ freak of nature, and no matter how hard you hit him, he always curb-stomps his way to the top. He has proved it time and again against the likes of Damien Priest, Finn Bálor, Shinsuke Nakamura, and AJ Styles.

In fact, as Nakamura stated, he tried to break Rollins down, but defying all odds, the 37-year-old still stood on top. And while Mahal will enjoy the numbers advantage going into the fight, we cannot deny the fact that he still isn’t a top-level draw, and with the likes of CM Punk and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson making their return, it is hard to see Jinder Mahal as a top draw for future PPV’s.
