Mandy Rose is one of the most popular wrestlers of all time. Her former run at WWE was appreciated by both fans and critics. It was her arrival at NXT, that improved her by leaps and bounds. While she became the women’s world champion at NXT, she was supposed to become a main-event champion years ago.

However, even a few years ago, women at WWE were not treated as a main-event attraction. Until, WrestleMania 35, when Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Ronda Rousey headlined the event.

WrestleMania 35 saw the first-ever women’s main-event match take place. The result saw Lynch winning over Rousey and Flair, and taking home both the RAW and SmackDown women’s championships. However, recent reports revealed it was not always the plan.

Becky Lynch became ‘The Man’ a few months ago thanks to a bloody nose by Nia Jax. However, the reports claim it was Mandy Rose who was supposed to take home the SmackDown Women’s championship home.

Former WWE writer Dave Schilling revealed in his series of tweets how it was Rose that was supposed to win the gold that night, and not Lynch. However, Rose was still learning the craft, and it would have been early for her to win the title then.

WWE took the correct decision, and let Lynch take over. Becky Lynch was one of the most over superstars that year, and her ‘Man’ gimmick hit all the correct notes.

While Schilling revealed Rose was the potential winner of the SmackDown Women’s Championship, it would not have received the same reception as Lynch becoming, “Becky-Two-Belts.”

What happened to Mandy Rose after WrestleMania 35?

While Rose was supposed to win the world championship that night, she did not do so. From WrestleMania 35 to 36, Rose had a disappointing run, losing and jobbing. However, after breaking up with Sonya Deville prior to WrestleMania 36, she went solo.

She had a successful solo run, before pairing up with Dana Brooke prior to WrestleMania 37. Unfortunately, she had a disappointing run with her as well. Until, she returned to NXT in 2021, and formed Toxic Attraction with Gigi Dolin, and Jacey Jane.
