A former WWE writer shared how putting Kevin Owens against John Cena proved fruitful under the leadership of Vince McMahon.

Freddie Prinze Jr. recently recalled the time he worked in WWE alongside Mr.McMahon. He reminisced about how the former CEO of WWE looked at upcoming talents.

Freddie Prinze Jr. recalls how Kevin Owens’ booking paid off to WWE

The former writer of WWE exclusively talked about Vince McMahon on the recent episode of the Wrestling with Freddie podcast. Prinze took The Prizefighter’s debut against John Cena as a success for WWE.

The 47-year-old said, “It’s been proven before like with Kevin Owens, right, coming out of NXT and everybody loved this guy. So he debuts on RAW they give him John Cena and he beats him.”

He added, “He does his own finisher to him and says you can’t see me, and look at the reward you got out of that. And don’t tell me it wasn’t it didn’t pay off because you re-sign him to a multi-million dollar contract. So you know, he’s money.”

After his debut, Owens had a clean victory over The Cenation Leader, which was a big thing at the time. It is safe to say that McMahon might have got impressed and elevated the former Universal Champion in the company.

A couple of years ago, the trust paid off when Owens re-signed with WWE in a multi-year contract. Moreover, Prinze also said how LA Knight can be the next big thing and is an important superstar to WWE.

Mr. McMahon has tried to put over several superstars over the years after watching how the crowd’s response is. Prinze also shed a light on how Vinnie-Mac looked at the stars who missed their spot during their matches.

Vince McMahon had two words for new talents who missed their opportunity

Mr.McMahon minted ample money just from running WWE for over four decades. He would put over the star who would reflect his appearance into earning huge money. However, he had a special term for those who missed their spot, according to Prinze.

The former WWE writer said, “I used to hear him say it all the time. If somebody messed up a spot he’d go, ‘Well, that’s dead money’. And I was just be like, ‘Yo, they made a mistake dog like and TV and film we get take two’.”
