Wrestling veteran Chris Masters rose to prominence with his two WWE runs. ‘The Masterpiece’ was believed to be a contemporary of WWE’s “face” John Cena as they had trained under the same trainer, Rick Bassman. However, the Superstar revealed that the duo did not get along.

During his initial WWE run in 2006, Masters had a major heel run. He feuded with the likes of Cena and WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels. However, during a recent interview with Hannibal TV, ‘The Masterpiece’ revealed Cena, and he never got along. He even said ‘The Cenation Leader’ never wanted to work with him.

“He did not watch out for me. We just never really clicked for whatever reason. It was always odd,” Masters revealed. “I don’t know… He didn’t really look out for me. I don’t think he was ever particularly fond of me. I don’t know if he questioned my work ethic or what it was, or you know if there was some kind of issue. We just kind of never got along.”

Cena never wanted to work with Masters properly. Since Cena was the “top guy,” it was difficult for Masters to survive in the locker room and the company.

“When I worked with him in WWE in my first run, it was very difficult for me to work with him, and it’s hard to say that because he’s the top guy, especially at that point. But like when I would work with him, he had such little faith in me that he would want to call my offense for me.”

Chris Masters revealed Shawn Michaels always stood by his side against John Cena

Although John Cena always tried to snub him out, Shawn Michaels always approved of Chris Masters and his abilities. When Cena tried to “control” Masters, the “Heartbreak Kid” had no issues with Masters.

I’d be getting heat on him (John Cena), and he would tell me what the next strike is and to me, I’d just come off working with Shawn Michaels and he had no issues with how I was working so I couldn’t understand… and our matches turned out well.”

Despite being notorious for being difficult, Michaels ‘saved’ Masters, “Shawn even stuck up for me a few times because John Cena would try to bury me, and Shawn would be like ‘I had no problems working with him’ which felt really good for me because when I worked with Cena, there was always some issue.”
