Former WWE Employee Reveals WWE’s Future After Vince McMahon’s Death: “I Don’t Mean to Make It Morbid”

There is no bigger legacy in sports entertainment than the one Vince Kennedy McMahon created. He has come a long way, starting off in the wrestling industry as a commentator and gradually taking over his father’s WWF to grow it into the levels that no one imagined. Moreover, Mr. McMahon has managed the business very carefully and is still the ultimate decision-maker.

But, it is inevitable that someday the boss man will have to give way for his successor. Many assume that it might be someone from his family, other business tycoons, or even one of the most successful superstars like The Rock. However, according to former WWE commentator and executive vice president Jim Ross has a slightly different perspective.

Jim Ross comments on the succession plan of Vince McMahon

Jim Ross has been the beloved voice of WWE who presented plenty of iconic moments just as good as our eyes. He worked at WWE as a commentator and executive producer of talent relations for over two decades. Currently, he is with AEW working as a commentator, analyst, and senior advisor.

On a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross shed light on his views on WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon‘s future plans for WWE.

Good Ol’ JR said, “One would hope, I assume he does. I just don’t know. Maybe the succession plan is to package it up and sell it. I’ve said before and I don’t mean to make it morbid, he’s the genius behind the whole damn thing. He’s very protective of what he’s built and I would be the same way. Mr. McMahon might sell WWE for a better future, according to Jim Ross

Ross explained about Mr. McMahon’s way of planning as per his long-time friendship with the boss. About Vince McMahon’s succession plan, Jim Ross jokingly said that McMahon is the kind of person who thinks he’s going to live forever and that he hopes the WWE chief does. Because McMahon strictly takes care of his health and has good DNA.

“I don’t know about the succession plan, but I think they have to say they have one simply for the stockholders’ sake. I think that it’s such an attractive property with so many diverse tentacles that spread around the world, I think it’s an attractive buy for some big company. It seems like that’s the direction that some big businesses are heading in – they’re selling and consolidating,” Jim Ross added.

Although selling the company is a possible plan on Vince McMahon’s mind, Jim Ross said that he doesn’t know how to correctly answer the question of what will happen to WWE. Furthermore, he opined that seeing anybody take over McMahon’s legacy is unimaginable, even though there might be good contenders.
