Bill Goldberg is one of the biggest stars in pro wrestling. But in the past, there have been discussions on whether Goldberg was safe to work with. Several questions were raised on this topic following Goldberg’s infamous match against Bret Hart in 1999.

At WCW Starrcade in 1999, Goldberg kicked Bret Hart in the head during the match. Unfortunately, that kick led to a severe concussion for Bret.

A few weeks later, Hart even announced his retirement from in-ring action because of that concussion he suffered during his match against Goldberg.

Recently, during an interview on Monte & The Pharaoh, Goldberg’s trainer and former professional wrestler DeWayne Bruce blamed Bret Hart for failing to avoid the injury.

He said, “Even Bret Hart blames me for him getting concussion syndrome from Bill Goldberg, getting kicked in the ring. And I’m like, ‘You’re from the dungeon.'”

“You got a 289-pound guy getting the biggest push that anybody ever got. And you don’t know to get your hand up? S***, it’s your fault,” Bruce added.

DeWayne Bruce is not the only guy who expressed his opinion on this infamous incident. Several WWE superstars and WWE legends have also given their opinions on this incident involving Bret Hart and Goldberg in the past.

Is Goldberg still signed to WWE?

It is reported that Bill Goldberg is not signed to WWE currently. He became a free agent as his WWE contract expired after his match at the 2022 WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event.

In his last match, he faced Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship. Despite showing some fight, the WWE Hall of Famer lost to the Tribal Chief.

Goldberg hit Reigns with two spears. But even after that, the former WWE Universal Champion lost the match after Reigns applied the guillotine submission hold on him.

At 55 years of age, this could prove to be Goldberg’s last match not only in WWE but also in his professional wrestling career.
