The year 2023 saw many moments of brilliance and unexpected returns to the wrestling ring. From the blitzkrieg of Seth Rollins to the shocking return of CM Punk, there’s been a ton to take in. But who has been the top performer for WWE this year?

As the year comes closer to an end, we take a look at the WWE roster to see who the top contenders for MVP are this year.

1. Cody Rhodes: Cody Rhodes has been the top babyface of the company and headlined Night 2 of WrestleMania this year. He has also been one of the top superstars on the merchandise sales list in the WWE shop. Rhodes has only lost one singles match this year, against Roman Reigns, and two matches overall.

2. LA Knight: The Megastar has been the fastest-rising superstar in the WWE. After being treated as a mid-card till SummerSlam he was quickly elevated to main event status in just two months. He has fought Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel, teamed up with Cena, and has been in the top 5 list of merch sales alongside Rhodes, Reigns, and Rollins.

3. Rhea Ripley: The Eradicator and the powerhouse of The Judgment Day, the top stable in the company, Ripley is also the reigning WWE Woman’s Champion, a title she won from Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania. Since then, she has dominated the Women’s Division as other superstars try to catch up.

4. Jey Uso: Main Event Jey Uso has now become one of the top babyfaces in the company alongside Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. This year, he has not only become the only superstar to pin Roman Reigns, but he has even defeated Solo Sikoa in a singles match. He has only lost to Roman Reigns this year when he main evented SummerSlam.

5. Gunther: The record-breaking Intercontinental Champion from Imperium has impressed everyone with his in-ring skills. Built like a tank, The Ring General commands respect within the ring. He is yet to be pinned this year and has only lost to Chad Gable via count-out.

Besides these superstars, there is another superstar who can be considered a notable entrant.

Shawn Michaels names his candidate for MVP of the year

WWE legend and Mr. WrestleMania Shawn Michaels was invited to the Cheap Heat Podcast with host Peter Rosenberg. During the episode, he heaped special praise on The Judgment Day member Dominik Mysterio and called him the MVP of the year.

Though Dominik Mysterio has not been the best performer in the ring, he has been an entertainer. According to Michaels, the heat he receives is unrivaled and he has committed himself to the company to the best of his capacity.
