Even though the victory was tainted, Reigns was quick to issue a confident statement on Instagram. Roman is known to brag about his victories on social media, and he followed suit after his monumental win.

“Few will ever know what it feels like to carry everything on their back. In this generation, there is only one. The head of the table, the Universal champion, The Best of the Best,” read Roman’s caption in the Instagram post.

The Tribal Chief played some clever mind games with his opponent in the build up to the match. He even called Drew McIntyre a ‘secondary champion’. He referred to Drew as ‘the guy they send in when Roman Reigns is not available’.

Reigns beat McIntyre with help from Jey Uso

Roman and Drew’s match was a hard-hitting slugfest between two of the best in the business. The Tribal Chief threw everything he had at McIntyre, but the WWE Champion survived everything.

Roman was relentless in his attack on Drew, planting him with two Samoan Drops through the announcer’s table. He then followed that with a devastating Spear through the barricade. Reigns got McIntyre in and hit another Spear for a very close nearfall.

The closing stretch of the match was pretty anti-climactic, with Jey Uso coming to his cousin’s aid. Roman knocked out the official after eating a Claymore Kick, which allowed him to hit a low blow, followed by a superkick by Uso.

Reigns locked in the guillotine choke, and made McIntyre pass out in the hold. The WWE Champion refused to tap out to the hold and ultimately lost consciousness. This gave Roman Reigns one of the biggest wins of his career.
