WWE Universe around the world mourned the death of professional wrestling legend Kamala who passed away at 70. Kamala performed in the company for a combined five years and a few sporadic appearances in the early 2000s.
He had this different look of a fearless African soldier or warrior. In fact, he made barefoot wrestling cool long before Matt Riddle. The late wrestler wore facepaint, a loincloth and would walk down the aisle wearing a mask as he carried a spear and shield.
James Harris was the real name of Kamala. He first wrestled in 1978 and won titles in multiple companies.

The final decade of Kamala’s life was very difficult. Due to high blood pressure and diabetes, the late superstar needed to have his left leg amputated in 2011 and his right leg in 2012. In November of 2017, he underwent emergency surgery to clear fluid from around his heart and lungs.
The former wrestler was no more on 9th August, 2020. After hearing about the passing, WWE sent out an official statement from their website.
“WWE is saddened to learn that James Harris, known to WWE fans as Kamala, has passed away at age 70.
Under the frightening face paint of Kamala, the 6-foot-7, 380-pound Harris battled the greatest Superstars in sports-entertainment history, including Hulk Hogan, The Undertaker and Andre the Giant.
He terrorized opponents and thrilling audiences in Mid-South, World Class Championship Wrestling, WCW, and WWE until 2006.
WWE extends its condolences to Harris’ family, friends and fans.”

Undervalued legend, he was definitely a near-perfect heel in the 80s! He should've been given a bigger role in Hogan's first title run. #RestInPeaceKamala
