Seth Rollins vs Rey Mysterio is finally in the books and we are more confused than anything right now. While the two men put everything they had into this match, they were pulled down by the absurd stipulation of this Extreme Rules contest.
The chemistry between the two was good as expected. Majority of the match saw them exchanging routine maneuvers with the falcon arrows and the curb stomps and the 619’s making their way into the match.

However, the two didn’t lose sight of their ultimate purpose. That was to pick out the eye of their opponent. To that end, the match saw a set of pliers, the sharp edge of a steel chair, and the splinter of a half broken kendo stick being used.
However, what ultimately did the trick for Rollins was driving Ray’s eye into the steel staircase. It was brutal to watch and Seth didn’t disagree.
The Monday Night Messiah threw up immediately after he committed this dastardly act. However, if you think that was it, you’re so wrong.
The WWE actually went all out and had what seemed like a ‘gumball’ eye popping out of Rollins. While that seems like playing with the viewer’s intelligence, it’s still much better than the rumored CGI effects that were being planned.
Twitter makes fun of the weird stipulation at Extreme Rules
Expectedly, Twitter wasn’t very happy with how this match ended. With an overwhelmingly negative reaction, the platform was flooded with humorous jibes being thrown at this contest.
However, majority of the users were happy with the two men and how they performed. Their concern was with the over the top booking. I can’t say that I disagree.
They're doing fucking Irish whips and headscissors spots in a match where you can only win by extracting an eyeball.

I thought that was a good match with a stupid stipulation

The booking of this match was so bad it made Seth Rollins vomit #ExtremeRules

LMAO.
That #EyeForAnEye may have been one of the worst endings to a match I have ever seen. Seth Rollins throwing up was more disgusting than the actual “removal”, if you even wanna call it that, of Rey Mysterio’s eye…
What a complete waste of time #ExtremeRules

First he gets thrown from a building, then his eye pops out.
Rey Mysterio has had a year, guys. #ExtremeRules

While this is all in good fun, it’ll be intriguing to see the fall out of this storyline. Rey Mysterio has been supposedly blinded in storyline. This means that his son Dominik will be out for revenge.
It will be fun to see how things fold out in the upcoming weeks. What did you think of this match?
