Fans Come Through for John Cena’s Latest Movie Despite Harsh Criticism

WWE legend John Cena instantly became a source of joy when he returned to WWE in September 2023. Unfortunately, he isn’t enjoying the same success in his acting career. While the 16-time WWE Champ has many great films to his name, business has been very cold for him lately.

The latest John Cena-starrer, Freelance, failed to create much impact amongst critics. Despite pouring immense hard work into his role, Cena’s film received very harsh critical evaluation. However, in this moment of trouble, the Cenation has come forward to help their beloved leader.

Fans support John Cena’s new movie despite harsh criticism

Despite facing criticism from film critics, John Cena’s latest movie, ‘Freelance,’ has garnered support from his devoted fan base. The accomplished wrestler, now a part-timer due to his thriving Hollywood career, continues to give his best in every role. Cena’s Hollywood success includes notable performances in ‘The Suicide Squad,’ ‘Peacemaker,’ and the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise.

‘Freelance,’ featuring a star-studded cast and directed by Pierre Morel, received only seven percent positive reviews by critics on Rotten Tomatoes. This marks it as one of the lowest-rated movies by critics in recent years. However, the film found a more favorable reception among moviegoers and Cena’s loyal fan community, the Cenation.

One of the fans wrote, “I really like this movie. I like to see John Cena take on different roles.” Another fan didn’t mince his words while stating, “I’m glad I kinda like Cena, and did not let the critics’ low score stop me from watching it, as the audience score was high. I found it enjoyable, the main 3 actors worked well together.” Although critics gave a poor score it seems like many people found it fun. 

One more fan came forward to support Cena by saying, “John Cena is awesome in this movie I enjoyed every minute watching it in theaters can’t wait to own a digital copy soon to watch it over and over again it was funny and romantic.” While critics had mixed opinions, the audience overwhelmingly enjoyed the movie with a 77 percent positive score.

With this in mind, it seems that Cena’s fans will watch anything that the former wrestler puts out. So it should be worth noting that one of Cena’s more popular works might be in the works. This is good to know since Cena shared a cryptic message on Instagram hinting at Peacemaker Season 2.
