On SmackDown 02/02, Cody Rhodes stepped down from his WrestleMania challenge to Roman Reigns. At the same time, he introduced Dwayne Johnson as Reigns’ upcoming opponent, who will fight him for his position in The Bloodline at WrestleMania 40. This divided the entire wrestling fanbase because while some fans were waiting for this to happen, others wanted Rhodes to ‘finish his story’.
Largely speaking, this decision has caused the leading wrestling promotion to receive severe backlash from their devoted fanbase, especially from the many viewers who were invested in Rhodes’ storyline in WWE. As a result of the hate they received, WWE had to re-upload one of their promos.

Fans forced WWE to re-upload a promo
WWE was developing Cody Rhodes’ feud against Roman Reigns so far but didn’t go through with it because they already hit a blocked road with a few other top stars. So, to bring big bucks in their biggest PLE of the year, the company decided to hand over the main event to the newest TKO board member. However, when Rhodes handed over the feud to the WWE legend, we could see him walk out of the ring disappointingly when the original video was posted on YouTube.

As a result, fans showed their anger at the decision by disliking the video. So much so, that the number of dislikes exceeded the number of likes under the originally uploaded promo.
To tackle the situation, WWE re-uploaded the video. This time around, they edited the segment and removed the part where Rhodes walked out of the ring. According to fans, they tried to change the narrative to show everyone that “The American Nightmare” willingly gave up the spot.
When the fanbase learned about the same again, they took to Twitter and showed their discontent with the wrestling company again.

This shows that fans are invested in the story and may not like the promotion’s decision to bring Johnson into the middle of his feud. So, while that may be something that the fans would be interested in watching, they would also like to see Rhodes finishing his story at WrestleMania 40.
