WWE’s Extreme Rules had a lot of interesting stipulations lined up for us. We saw tables broken, eyes supposedly pulled out of their sockets, and Bayley becoming a referee by simply wearing the uniform. However, the main event of the show was the Swamp Fight. This match was fought between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman.

At the beginning of the fight, something caught our attention as Wyatt taunted his opponent. While Strowman was chained to the chair, Bray Wyatt brought out a big snake.

The snake examined Strowman before striking him, at which point the screen blacked out.

This detail is one that may have slipped many of your minds. The snake is in fact a reference to Braun Strowman’s SmackDown segment in which he calls out Bray Wyatt to face him in the Swamp Fight.

In the segment, Strowman described the first time he saw Wyatt which was in the Swamp. He said that he saw a snake slither up to Wyatt, at which point he tried to save him.

However, Wyatt instructed him not to, saying that the snake was his friend.

Bray Wyatt has a deep connection with the serpent

Braun Strowman then described how Wyatt went face to face with the snake and as it bit him repeatedly, he only laughed. The moment, although part of the storyline, gives an eerie insight into the character of Bray Wyatt.

It is very likely that the snake that bit Strowman in the Swamp Fight was the same one that he talked about in his segment. Wyatt is no stranger to this serpent.

Given the fact that his character is based on the occult, the serpent may have deeper meaning still. In ancient lore, the serpent is said to be an embodiment of the devil.

Note that in his segment, Braun Strowman mentioned that the serpent itself was Bray Wyatt, whom he believed to be the devil himself.

As far as the huge snake goes, Bray Wyatt may not have any use of it now that the Swamp Fight is over. It, however, plays a key role in his character, which just keeps on giving.
