We may all know the fan favorite Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson as a tall, strong, muscular man who has always sported a shaved head from his early days as a wrestler. But those who know him as The People’s Champ or The Brahma Bull know that he had once sported a buzz cut or something close on his now clean-shaven head. The Rock with hair: A trip down memory lane

Back in 2017, Dwayne Johnson commented on why exactly he has chosen to remain bald all these years. In response to a tweet that featured of gif of him from back in his college football days, Johnson said, “Why I luv GIFs. I’m not bald because I went bald. I’m bald because my hair is a cross between an afro and hair from a Lama’s ball sac. #TheU”. The wrestler-turned-actor sported a head full of curls as he looked around confused.

The Rock jokingly refers to it as a cross between an African’s curly hair and a lama. But that was long back, before he even made it to the wrestling ring in ‘96.

We saw him with short curly hair in his debut year as Rocky Maivia. But by the time he became the People’s Champ, it was gone, replaced by shorter hair, though it was still present. the retired wrestler has since opted for switching between a buzz cut and going fully bald, with some lapses in between where he has let his hair grow out. The longest we’ve probably seen it is during his first film, The Scorpion King, where he sported a wig with long straight hair interspersed with braids.

But if we take a closer look at his photographs in chronological order, we can notice that he opted for the bald look around 2010. In an episode of The Late Show with David Letterman, he appeared with a little bit of salt-and-pepper in his short hair. But after that, it was a smooth transition to his now-famous bald look.

An interesting fact regarding Johnson’s baldness is that, if he ever runs for the office of POTUS and wins, he will be the first President since Eisenhower to be openly bald.

Although The Rock has never really acknowledged it openly, he did accept that he received multiple proposals for running as a candidate for the President from both the Democrat and Republican parties. In an interview with Trevor Noah, it was revealed that nearly 46% of US citizens want to see him as President in a survey conducted.

And why wouldn’t they? The Rock is not just a global icon but is seen as a leader by many. He is worth $800 million and has a fan following of millions, as well as having a reputation for being a charismatic speaker, both as a wrestler and during his college days.
