A year ago in February, former WWE superstar, Rene Dupree recalled an incident on his podcast Cafe De Rene. While remembering Zach Gowen’s WWE run, Dupree shared how WWE once told Lesnar to punish the one-legged wrestler because he was caught smoking cigarettes backstage.

The 39-year-old said, “What I had heard is that he was caught smoking cigarettes backstage. If you’ve ever been backstage at a WWF (WWE) show, Vince (McMahon) has ‘no smoking’ signs all over the building.”

The former 2-time WWE tag team champion added, “Only two people were allowed to smoke that was Black Jack Lanza and Pat Patterson. Remember that segment where Brock bashes his f***ing brains in with that steel chair in front of his own mother? That was punishment right there.”

We all have seen how Lesnar tormented Gowen several times when they were feuding for a short time. However, now we know the possible reason behind the brutal chair shot on WWE’s first-ever amputee wrestler in front of his mother.

Nevertheless, whatever the real reason is for that chair shot, Gowen still considers Vince McMahon the savior of his life. Furthermore, Dupree and his co-host also reminisced about Lesnar pushing Gowen down the stairs in a wheelchair.

Zach Gowen recently shared WWE used a stunt double in the wheelchair segment

While Gowen was in a rivalry with Vince McMahon and The Beast Incarnate, the 40-year-old was in a brutal segment. The segment saw Lesnar pushing down Gowen the stairs tied to a wheelchair.

In an interview with Steve Falls, he said, “I didn’t take it. They brought in a stunt double to take that particular fall, down the stairs tied to a wheelchair….I don’t to fall down a flight of stairs with a wheelchair bouncing behind my head. So I politely declined.”
