Former WWE star Matt Hardy came to the company around the same time when The Rock became one of the biggest stars in wrestling. Hardy, who also teamed up with DJ during the Attitude Era, discussed how good he was at constructing the matches. He also examined how the former WWE Champion would do in the modern era of wrestling.
Hardy reveals how Dwayne Johnson would’ve done in today’s wrestling industry
Many fans consider Dwayne Johnson one of the greatest wrestlers of all time due to his ability to captivate the audience and draw a reaction from them. Very few wrestlers understood the in-ring psychology, as well as The Rock did.
On a recent edition of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the current AEW star discussed how The Rock knew what he needed to do to evoke reactions from the crowd. Hardy said that no one was better at it than The Brahma Bull.

However, the multi-time tag team champion also stated that it would have been difficult for Dwayne Johnson to flourish in the current pro wrestling scene. Hardy explained, “If you inserted him into today’s pro wrestling, where it’s like, mandatory, you’re much more than like a caricature or cartoon, and you have to go out and work an amazing match. It would be a lot more difficult for Rock.”
Matt Hardy further added that nobody was better at constructing a match than Rock. He continued, “but like Rock as far as being a character and being an amazing solid athlete doing more basic fundamental stuff, nobody was better at constructing a match.”

Hardy may be alluding to the fact that today’s pro wrestling world is based more on the acrobatic spots in the ring. The wrestling industry, like anyone else, continues to evolve and the styles have changed with time.
