Gowen’s career was nothing short of amazing, from his jaw-dropping debut, where he pinned the intimidating Big Show, to his mind-blowing clash with the unstoppable power that is Brock Lesnar.

Zach Gowen reflects on his win 20 years ago against The Big Show

Recently a clip came out from “On this Day by WWE” on Twitter where Zach Gowen beat all odds to gain a WWE contract in the summer of 2003 by pinning the 500 lbs Big Show with an assist from Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar.

Gowen reacted to the nostalgic clip on Twitter and wrote, “20 years ago, wow!!! So thankful for WWE and all who worked together to create this moment. Life changing.”

Gowen teamed up with Stephanie McMahon to take on Big Show with the stipulation if they won the match, Gowen would receive a WWE contract.

During the match, Lesnar and Angle came out to help the pair and allowed Gowen to pin the Big Show in a monumental upset.

Gowen also feuded with Brock Lesnar.

Late in 2003, Lesnar and Gowen engaged in a singles contest. However, he ruthlessly thrashed the former star before his mother, disqualifying him. Nevertheless, the feud ended when Gowen said “goodbye” to WWE.

Gowen’s run in WWE was commendable as he showed everyone that nothing is off limits for someone who is willing to give it his best shot.

With each action, Gowen exemplified the genuine spirit of American tenacity and the never-give-up spirit that characterizes our adored sports heroes.
