Throughout his Hollywood career, Dwayne Johnson has been a part of several highly successful films. One of his biggest successes has been the Fast and Furious franchise, which The Brahma Bull joined back in 2011. However, after an ugly spat with Vin Diesel, Johnson would eventually bid adieu to the $7 billion franchise.
During their time working together, Johnson and Diesel experienced conflicts that escalated into a full-fledged rivalry between the two. Diesel has been a significant figure in the franchise since its inception in 2001, alongside the late actor Paul Walker. After appearing in the eighth installment of the franchise, Johnson’s final involvement in the series was followed by his participation in “Hobbs & Shaw,” a spinoff film. Subsequently, he decided to permanently depart from the franchise.

However, fans were left shocked to their core, when The Brahma Bull decided to make his way back to the franchise in Fast X. During the post-credits scene, a masked figure would appear, who would then reveal himself to be Luke Hobbs. However, fans now wonder what changed Johnson’s mind after all the comments he made.
Dwayne Johnson’s earlier remark on Fast and Furious return: Is Vin Diesel a factor?
In 2016, Johnson caused a stir on his social media account when he publicly criticized his male co-stars from the franchise, referring to them as “candy a**es” and bringing attention to their unprofessional conduct. Although the post was later removed, the incident had already been witnessed by a wide audience.
Prior to not returning for the 9th film of the franchise, Johnson had made several comments about the cast, especially the male cast of the film. And soon after, he would depart from the franchise. Hobbs & Shaw turned out to be Johnson’s last film in the franchise as well. After Diesel involved his and Walker’s family in the mix, Johnson would get more heated up, and grow the animosity between the actors.
In the year 2016 itself, Johnson also claimed, “When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you’re right.” It is rumored that the rant was directed at Diesel. The very next year in 2017, Vin Diesel claimed everything was good between the two. However, despite this Johnson never returned.
In an interview with CNN, Johnson claimed, “I told [Diesel] directly that I would not be returning to the franchise. I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return.” Johnson had also further accused Diesel of manipulating the fans by bringing all of their families.
Dwayne Johnson also once revealed how after their beef had turned public, the two engaged in a meeting, which was not at all peaceful. However, then what prompted Johnson to return back to the $7 billion film franchise?
In his latest Instagram post, Johnson explained how he squashed his entire beef with the Pacifier actor and decided to let go of their ugly past. This prompted them to improve their relationship and get back together to work.
However, did Johnson prove himself to be a hypocrite after all of this?
