However, he decided to change his life by controlling his eating habits and working out. There is a major reason why a young Hogan decided to change his physique.
Hulk Hogan once claimed he lost weight to get girls in high school
‘The Immortal One’ was a fat kid before becoming a muscular man years later to call himself a WWE legend. But his primary aim at first was to have a girlfriend in high school, for which he decided to lose weight. Hogan talked about the same on Rover’s Morning Glory in 2013.
The Hulkster said, “I didn’t know what bullying was, but I definitely got bullied. I don’t think I’ve been in a real fight in my life to tell you the truth, really. I’m a pretty good bluffer (not a violent guy). I was really fat, I had the rolls from my b**bs to my stomach to my three other stomachs.”
He added, “I was a fat kid. Well, I kind of woke up and realized that what girls were in high school. Everyone had one but me. So I figured out and try to get in shape and that was my motivation. (I was motivated) by the opposite s*x, yes sir.”
It is indeed true, teenage brings massive change into kids and so it did to Hogan. It is safe to say, that in order to get a girlfriend, he decided to change his physique. The WWE legend got deep into bodybuilding, but joined professional wrestling and became a legend.
The reason why Hogan was afraid to take off his t-shirt as a kid
While speaking to Marc Mero in 2015, the 12-time world champion recalled getting bullied as a kid. He also shared that not taking off his shirt for a long time, as he thought people would laugh at him.
He said, “So I know what it’s like to be bullied as a kid. Never took my shirt off till I was 19 years old and I know what it’s like to have people always on you and what it can do to your self-esteem.”
