When someone says Hulk Hogan, a picture of a WWE superstar with 24-inch pythons reflects in our mind. But that was never the case for the professional wrestling legend when he was young. This was when he didn’t aspire to be a wrestler and was a chubby kid, as Hogan has shared several times.

However, there came a time when Hogan got serious about reshaping his physique. But there were some tough times that the 12-time world champion once shared.

He once said to Marc Mero, “When I was younger, I was very fat. Everybody from my brother to everybody in the neighborhood teased me. And said everything from your head is too big or you need a bra. They really came down strong on me and tease me.”

Hulk Hogan once shared how it was like to be bullied as a kid

The Hulkster has talked several times in many interviews about being fat and bullied as a kid. While talking to Marc Mero, he recalled the time when he played baseball and avoided running bases.

The WWE legend said, “Even when I was playing baseball, I knew in my mind that if I didn’t hit a home run, if I kicked the ball inside the park anywhere, even hitting the ball in the center field fence in the middle of the fence I still couldn’t run past the first base. And the one time I did run to the second base, they threw me out and the whole place hew hawed laughing. So I know what it’s like to be bullied as a kid.”

Furthermore, he also shared he never took his shirt off until he was 19 years old. He was afraid people would tease him and it would negatively affect his self-esteem.

 

Nevertheless, The Hulkster turned his life after that and became a powerful man. The world saw his power when he slammed Andre the Giant in the middle of the ring. Moreover, his physique even impressed Arnold Schwarzenegger, and he had huge biceps back in the day.

What made The Hulkster change his lifestyle, becoming Mr. fat to fit?

A few years ago, Hogan sat for an interview with James Arthur Ray,che shared accepting ‘Christ as his savior.’ He said, “No, I wasn’t an introvert. I just was physically just held back. Over-eating, you know, like the junk food junkie as a kid.”

The Hulkamania leader added, “But in this little bible study when I accepted Christ as my savior when I knew that Jesus has died on the cross to pay for my sins, it changed my whole perception of what was important and what wasn’t. From that point on, everything pretty much changed for me.”

Hogan got an awakening, changed his life, and became a huge name in professional wrestling. By the end of his career, he made a successful career in AWA, WWE, WCW, and NJPW.

Moreover, he won 13 world championships across the globe when he was an active wrestler. He is a primary part of bringing major changes in the industry and is also a 2x WWE Hall of Famer. Clearly, one major awakening helped Hogan to completely change his life and become a megastar.
