Ronda Rousey’s return to WWE hasn’t panned out exactly how the company hoped. Despite receiving a warm reception from the audience following her Royal Rumble return, the interest in the former UFC Champion has dwindled since.
Fans have labeled her character dull and recently started a #FireRondaRousey trend on Twitter. One of the main reasons for fan disdain towards her can be WWE’s booking of the SmackDown Women’s Champion.
The promotion for a long time has been undecided whether to book her as a babyface or go full throttle on her heel character.

A couple of months ago, speaking on her YouTube channel, Rowdy One talked about her on-screen character. She implied that WWE wasn’t letting her go full villain mode.
Ronda Rousey expressed her grievances over her WWE character
Ronda Rousey carries a lot of weight as a global star. As such, it may be understandable why WWE wanted to push her as a babyface.
However, the fans have rejected that persona for quite some time now and find it hard to believe. Indeed, with a moniker like the ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet’, it is hard to imagine Rousey being an underdog babyface.

Speaking on her YouTube stream, Rousey pointed to the baseball attack by Liv Morgan during their feud for the SmackDown Women’s title. She implied how WWE doesn’t allow her to be a full-blown heel.
Moreover, she also said as Morgan attacked her, the fans cheered her, which also showed double standards from the fans.

She said, “I feel like that’s a double standard that everybody else gets to attack me from behind, gets to hit me with bats, gets to do all this other stuff, and ‘Oh what a commendable, inspiring babyface.’ So I’m like, what the heck. I can’t even be a heel when I’m a heel”. Rousey then defeated Morgan at Extreme Rules to regain the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

It also looks like by her antics that she is more of a heel than a babyface since. The former RAW Women’s Champion has sneak attacked her opponents on SmackDown along with Shayna Baszler and also openly expressed her anguish towards fans.
Lately, Rousey is embracing the more villainous side of her character and looking to make it work.
One thing for sure is that WWE has paid heed to Rousey’s desire to be more of a heel. But there is a long way to go still.
