Every Championship Reign of WWE Legend Christian Cage

Christian Cage is one of the most underrated wrestlers in the world. The newest AEW signee has won his fair share of titles, but he’s never regarded as one of the best. We hope his current run in AEW gives him the impetus to leave a proper mark on the industry, but his WWE run wasn’t disappointing either.

How many World Championships has Christian Cage won?

In his time working for WWE, Christian held the World Heavyweight Championship only twice. He never won the company’s main title, but he won the ECW Championship.

Christian’s first two World Championship reigns came with the ECW Championship. The first reign began when he beat Jack Swagger, now Jake Hager, for the ECW Title. Unfortunately, his reign only lasted three weeks, after which he lost it to hardcore legend Tommy Dreamer.

His second reign with the title came after he knocked off Dreamer at Night of Champions 2009. This would be his final reign with the title, after which he’d come to SmackDown and win the World Championship.

Captain Charisma won his first World Heavyweight Championship against Alberto del Rio in a stunning ladder match at Extreme Rules. His best friend Edge vacated the title after being forced to retire. Instead of giving the title to his friend, he made him earn it by winning a brutal war against del Rio.

Christian lost the title to Randy Orton on SmackDown, two days after winning it. He unsuccessfully challenged for the title at Over the Limit in a fantastic match with Orton, which led to him turning heel. Heel Christian won back the World Title from Orton at Money in the Bank in the most ingenious way.

As per the stipulation, if Orton got himself counted out or disqualified, he would lose the title. Christian poked the bear till the bear kicked him where the sun don’t shine, making him the new champion.

How many secondary titles has Christian won?

Aside from the World Championship wins, Christian was mostly known for tag team work. Alongside Edge, Lance Storm and Chris Jericho, Christian won the Tag Team Championships nine times. This is an incredible feat for any superstar but an easy feat for a specialist like Christian.

Cage is also a four-time Intercontinental Champion. He won his first IC title by beating Edge at Unforgiven in 2001. He’d recently turned heel and attacked Edge out of jealousy, since Edge won the King of the Ring. He would soon lose it back to his best friend at No Mercy.

At Survivor Series 2001, he defeated Al Snow to win the European Championship, which he would hold a month before losing it to Diamond Dallas Page. He even held the Hardcore Championship, pinning 2021 Hall of Fame inductee Molly Holly. Finally, one of Christian’s title reigns people do not recognise is his run with the WWF Lightweight Championship.
