With the treasure trove of stories and anecdotes that the professional wrestling world contains, it’s shocking that the cinema world had rarely ventured into this territory. A huge gap might finally be filled as ‘Thor’ star Chris Hemsworth is all set to play Hulk Hogan in an upcoming biopic.
Better still, the movie will be helmed by ‘Joker’ director Todd Phillips. For people who are fans of both professional wrestling and the deranged villain of the DC Universe, this is like a dream come true.

Add to that the fact that Netflix has acquired exclusive release rights for the film, and you have a big budget flick with critically acclaimed creators on your hands.
The movie is all set to chronicle the rise of Hogan in the 80’s and 90’s which directly coincided with the WWE becoming a powerful global force.
It’s not an overstatement to claim that Hogan played a key role in taking professional wrestling from small territories to prime time television.
His Wrestlemania main-event with Andre The Giant was a watershed moment in professional wrestling history which turned an entire generation towards the beautiful sport.
Needless to say, Chris Hemsworth has a daunting task at his hands. That’s because he doesn’t just have to play the over-hyped in-ring Hulk Hogan.
He also has to portray the real life Terry Eugene Bollea and show all his shades that went into creating the iconic professional wrestling character.
For Chris Hemsworth, this job is even tougher than playing Thor from the Marvel Universe.
Chris Hemsworth excited and intrigued at the prospects of playing Hulk Hogan
Chris Hemsworth spoke to Total Film about this challenge. His excitement was clearly visible.
“This movie is going to be a really fun project,” he said. “As you can imagine, the preparation for the role will be insanely physical. I will have to put on more size than I ever have before, even more than I put on for Thor. There is the accent as well as the physicality and the attitude.”

“I will also have to do a deep dive into the rabbit hole of the wrestling world, which I’m really looking forward to doing,” Hemsworth added.
The entire transformation in itself will be very challenging. Hulk Hogan used to be a beast back in the day and it’s difficult to match that phsique. We are super excited to see Chris Hemsworth take up this challenge and eagerly await the release of this unique movie.
