John Cena’s groundbreaking surprise return at Money in the Bank paid dividends as the fans imbued a positive response in the O2 Arena. This marked Cena’s second surprise return to the Money in the Bank event after 2021. The WWE Universe already committed to spitballing about his imminent comeback, as the Hollywood actor was in the same city due to his ongoing Hollywood project.

In addition to eliminating Grayson Waller, John Cena enthused the audience by advocating for London to host a future WrestleMania event. However, the prospect of London hosting a near-future WrestleMania event seems unlikely.

WWE has a massive fan base in the United Kingdom. With each passing year, WWE is reaching new milestones in terms of performance in the UK. Last year, The Clash at the Castle drew a capacity crowd of 62,296 in attendance. And once again, Money in the Bank turned out to be a financial success in London for WWE.

Although John Cena pushed for London to host a future Show of Shows event, a new report indicated that it may not take place any time soon. Firstly, the venue for WrestleMania 40 is already booked. The show will emanate from Philadelphia. And secondly, WWE is now in the final stages of booking a location for WrestleMania 41 in the United States.

WrestleMania could arrive in London as early as 2026, according to Fightful Select, but WWE sources are still undecided. The report read, “The earliest a WrestleMania could hit London is 2026 unless something drastic happens, and WWE sources told us they don’t find it likely on the horizon. However, there was a survey taker near media day this week asking about what cities in the UK would be most convenient for a HYPOTHETICAL Royal Rumble or SummerSlam in the area. Among those cities listed were London, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow. WrestleMania was not mentioned on that survey.”

As noted, fans in the UK may get a Royal Rumble or SummerSlam, but not WrestleMania for the time being. So, was the WWE management unaware of what John Cena was going to pitch in front of 18,885 fans?

It turns out that WWE was reportedly well aware of what John Cena was going to say.

WWE reportedly had John Cena plant the seed for spurring London on to host WrestleMania

WrestleMania is the greatest spectacle in all sports entertainment, and there are various cities that would love to host the Showcase of Immortals. However, WrestleMania shows typically are paid performances, so London does not have to pay WWE for the increase in tourism.

According to Dave Meltzer from Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE used John Cena to put London in a position to desire to host a WrestleMania event. While referring to Triple H’s reaction to John Cena’s announcement, Meltzer stated, “He (Triple H) knew exactly what that was.”

Moreover, let’s not forget that AEW’s All In at Wembley Stadium was a massive success. This may be the real reason behind WWE’s strong pitch for London to host WrestleMania.
