Even After Brock Lesnar’s Endorsement, Cody Rhodes Still Has to Figure Out the Way Forward

SummerSlam 2023 witnessed Cody Rhodes come out on top after slaying ‘The Beast’. However, in the process, he also earned the hard-earned respect of Brock Lesnar, who seemingly passed on the torch to him.

The conclusion of the match saw an end to the Brock Lesnar vs Cody Rhodes rivalry. However, it also left a huge question mark on Rhodes and his future in the company. With Rollins busy in a feud against The Judgment Day, and every member of RAW engaged in their own feud, where does Rhodes fit in? The superstar ponders about the same in his recent Twitter post.

Despite a momentous victory against Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes is left without a clear path

‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes returned to WWE in 2022 at WrestleMania 38. His main purpose upon return was to finish his story, something which his father Dusty Rhodes could not. However, soon after the return, Rhodes would suffer a pectoral injury.

His feud with Rollins before the injury, and his next feud with Roman Reigns after his return post-recovery, still saw him fail to finish his story. However, soon after, he would get involved in a violent feud against Brock Lesnar.

But with his Brock Lesnar chapter coming to a close at SummerSlam, what is next for Rhodes? The 38-year-old himself took to his Twitter account to generate this doubt. Although he conquered ‘The Beast’, he is left without a clear direction regarding his career. Rhodes took to his Twitter, and wrote, “…what next?”

Rhodes needed to win against Lesnar to maintain his momentum, and so he did. However, it also left him confused about the next step. While Rhodes can now feud with Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship title, Rollins is currently a babyface, and so is Rhodes.

The next most logical feud would see him go against The Judgment Day. But at the end of the day, WWE fans will have to wait and see what the company has in store for the superstar.

What is next for Cody Rhodes in the near future?

To maintain his ongoing momentum, WWE needs to set up Rhodes with a new feud against fresh opponents. For now, it seems The Judgement Day is still not over with Seth Rollins, and will look forward to tarnishing his reign further.

However, with Bronson Reed, Shinsuke Nakamura, and even Tommaso Ciampa on the roster, Rhodes could be pitched against them to bring forward a fresh feud. This could be a great way for him to maintain his hot run while also trying to finish his story.
