The 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble Match proved to be one of the most exciting Royal Rumble matches of all time. The match began on an exciting note after WWE Attitude Era legend, Melina made her return to WWE during the Women’s Royal Rumble Match.

The former WWE Divas Champion looked very emotional on her return, as she received a great reception from the WWE Universe.

Melina entered the match at number 2. But unfortunately, she did not last long as she got eliminated by Sasha Banks even before the third participant arrived in the ring.

Considering Melina’s legacy in WWE, fans expected Melina to be in the match for a longer duration.

Even though the fans loved most of the match, it looks like they did not like this incident that took place in the beginning.

Melina’s quick elimination did not fit well with several people. Former WWE superstar Gail Kim even took to Twitter and called it disrespectful.

In the caption, Kim wrote, “The disrespect. Sorry. I’m saying what I feel. All the respect to Sasha but put some respect on Melina’s name.”

Even some fans had the same opinion as Gail Kim as they revealed their disappointment in reply to Kim’s tweet.

A look back at the achievements of Melina in WWE

Melina is currently signed to Impact Wrestling. But prior to that, she had wrestled in WWE and even won championships.

In 2007, Melina defeated Mickie James to win the WWE Women’s Championship for the first time. But it was certainly not the last time she won a championship. That win against Mickie James gave Melina the push she needed.

However, Melina lost the championship in a triple threat match to Mickie James at a WWE House Show in April after James pinned Victoria. But Melina got an opportunity to win back the title from James on the same night. And she successfully did that by pinning Mickie.

Later in 2009, Melina won the WWE Women’s Championship for the third time by defeating Beth Phoenix. Further, she won the WWE Divas Championship twice before her WWE exit in 2011.
