However, Triple H took his share of hits in his time as an active wrestler. He has torn his quads, his pectorals, and more. But as serious as those injuries were, they do not compare to the one he suffered at the hands of WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam.
Rob and Triple H were a part of the first-ever Elimination Chamber match. It took place at Survivor Series 2002 since Elimination Chamber was not a premium live event in itself back then. Rob Van Dam, in his famous aerial style, tried to deliver his signature ‘Five Star’ frog splash from the top of a pod. Unfortunately, he botched the move and landed awkwardly on Triple H’s neck.
It is almost unbearable to watch as one can see Triple H holding his neck at the end. Fortunately, the injury did not turn out as bad as it could have, since Triple H’s windpipe could have gotten damaged. Rob Van Dam later commented on the incident in WWE Network’s Documentary “Ruthless Aggression“.
RVD said, “I felt horrible about it, but of course he continued the match to the point where I don’t remember even knowing that he was hurt.”
Triple H is famous for completing his matches even when injured. He has done it several times. In the same documentary, The Game also commented on the incident.
Triple H said, “I’m looking and I’m thinking, ‘That looks really awkward. I don’t know if he can jump from there’,”
The Game did not miss too much time nursing this injury and was back soon.
