Edge’s Latest Truth Bomb Proves Why John Cena Is His Arch-Enemy Despite Sharing a Healthy Off-Screen Bond: “Felt Like a Vindication”

Vince McMahon always treats the WWE Universe with the best entertainment in the world. However, the credit majorly goes to the WWE superstars who prove that they can give the crowd what they want. One such superstar who delivered on fans’ expectations is The Rated R superstar Edge.

The legendary Hall of Famer recently appeared in a live video interview. Edge dropped a massive truth on the WWE Universe when he opened up about his favorite title win. The confession stirred up WWE fans and sent the internet ablaze as Edge spoke about his rivalry against John Cena.

Edge talks about cashing in the first Money in the Bank contract

John Cena has created an indestructible legacy in WWE. The Cenation has seen Cena get involved in several heated rivalries, however, the one that stands out the most is his rivalry with Edge. While Cena and Edge share a great friendship off-camera, their camaraderie in the ring portrayed them as each other’s eternal rivals. Edge is known as one of WWE’s most notorious and vicious heels, while Cena was the ultimate babyface.

The Canadian Wrestling Superstar always strived to get his hands on what he wanted and didn’t stop at anything. Edge won the WWE Heavyweight Championship a record seven times and also reigned the longest as its holder. In fact, Edge retired as the Heavyweight Champion in 2011 when he retired for the first time. 

In a recent live-streamed interview, The Hall of Famer was asked about his favorite title win. Edge said, “It’s gotta be New Year’s Revolution, the Money in the Bank cash. I think because, that truly felt, a vindication.” Edge referred to his infamous win over Cena when he cashed the first Money in the Bank Contract ever. Edge walked into the arena with his contract and attacked Cena who was a bloody mess after an Elimination Chamber match. 

The Champ had just won a grueling Elimination match against five wrestlers. However, the Rated R Superstar saw this opportunity and capitalized to win the WWE Championship for the first time.

Edge said, “It felt like a vindication because I think at that point there were a lot of people doubting whether I could ever get there.” This triggered the start of one of the most heated WWE rivalries.

Cena and Edge became each others’ true arch-nemesis. The WWE Universe was split into a clear divide over the two wrestling superstars. While one faction was thrilled to see someone finally tormenting Cena, the Cenation was still loyal to their champion. The WWE title changed hands multiple times between both superstars and the fans were invested.

Edge used the most vile tactics to reclaim and retain the WWE title multiple times. The rivalry cemented both of them as two of the very best of their generation.
