Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is a megastar in his own right. Venturing out of the WWE in the 2000s to follow his desire to be in Hollywood, the Final Boss has achieved the feat and is worth over $800 million today. After multiple box office blockbusters, he received the NATO Spirit of the Industry Award at CinemaCon 2024. During the acceptance speech on stage, he compared his upcoming movie Moana 2 to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

Johnson debuted in The Mummy Returns in 2001 and followed up with The Scorpion King the following year. He’s also been part of The Fast and The Furious franchise, among other projects.

Taking place in Las Vegas, CinemaCon 2024 was held at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Fresh off WrestleMania XL, the WWE icon was all set to promote his upcoming Moana 2 by Walt Disney Studios. Along with this, he will also be working on the live-action version of the first movie. Reprising his role as Maui in both versions, fans are excited to see them. During the show, he also danced onstage along with Polynesian dancers who were performing in the Moana showcase.

At the event, he received this year’s National Association of Theatre Owners (NATO) Spirit of the Industry Award. The CinemaCon managing director Mitch Neuhauser honored Dwayne Johnson with the award and claimed, “No one exemplifies a commitment to the theatrical experience more than Dwayne Johnson.” While receiving the award, The Rock mentioned director Christopher Nolan during his acceptance speech. Nolan was the first award recipient last year, and while talking about Oppenheimer, he said, “Whether it’s Oppenheimer or Moana 2, it’s the experience.”

This year will be another eventful year for The Rock in Hollywood. He will be working on both Moana movies and The Smashing Machine. He will also return to the WWE to continue his feud with Cody Rhodes. His involvement in the WWE has increased since he was made a member of the TKO Board of Directors. Fans are both happy about Johnson’s success in Hollywood and excited about his work in the WWE. Not only did his involvement hype up WrestleMania XL, but it added an Attitude Era nostalgic feel to the promos. His return ahead of SummerSlam is highly anticipated.
