Talking about recent times, Dwayne Johnson first returned to WWE in 2023 and teased that he would be staying longer than he had during his past returns. On the first day of 2024, he returned to Monday Night Raw and confirmed that he had set his sights on The Tribal Chief. Since then, the Stamford-based company has started receiving more engagement from fans.
This can be credited to the huge fan following that The Rock has outside of his influence in the WWE universe. However, Lance Anoa‘i recently compared his cousin to pop icon Taylor Swift in an interview.

The Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl 58. Apart from the matches, there was one more highlight worth noticing during the last NFL season. Because of her relationship with Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift’s fans were also highly invested in watching the last NFL season and cheering on the Chiefs during the championship match. Lance Anoa’i couldn’t help but compare this to DJ’s WWE return.
The MLW superstar said in an exclusive interview, “Man just like Taylor Swift in the NFL. She brought the eyes of her audience to the NFL who she has, like 300 million followers.” He further added, “So I believe it’s just the audience and who wouldn’t want to see The Rock get back in the ring one more time, especially at WrestleMania against his own blood.”
Here, Lance is comparing Johnson to Taylor Swift in terms of the circumstances and how both the superstars brought part of their fanbase, who weren’t very familiar with sports, and introduced them to something new using their stardom.
During the same interview with WrestlingNews.co, the former MLW Champion also shed some light on the rumors of The Rock turning on his cousins, which the wrestling community believes is going to happen in a matter of time.

After rewatching that specific promo, fans online started doubting the intentions of The People’s Champion. This speculation must have reached the MLW Anoa’i wrestler as well, allowing him to take it into account. Nevertheless, only time will tell if The Rock has an ulterior motive in joining The Bloodline but for now, he has firmly set his sights on Cody Rhodes and his allies.
